News | April 2016 Job Fair

March 31, 2016

Modesto, CA – Looking for a new or better job? Then check out the 2016 Central Valley Job Fair on Wednesday, April 6. This year’s event will be at the Modesto Centre Plaza and is hosted by Congressman Jeff Denham in partnership with the Stanislaus Business Alliance, Alliance Worknet, Alliance SBDC, the Vet Center, CalVet, Work for Warriors, the Employment Development Department, the Central Valley Human Resource Management Association, the Stanislaus County Veteran Employment Committee, Datapath, Modesto City Schools, and the Heavy Equipment College of California.

The event is filled to capacity with 61 employers from every industry in Stanislaus County and the surrounding areas including Amazon, Del Monte Foods, E.&J. Gallo Winery, Blue Diamond Growers, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, JP Morgan Chase, the City of Modesto, and the California Highway Patrol. “We work hard to get a good mix of employers and positions so that there are options for everyone looking to find a job or a job that advances their career,” said David White, Chief Executive Officer of the Stanislaus Business Alliance. “Employers are recruiting for everything from industrial electricians to administrative assistance to management. We know our community thrives because the skill sets and aspirations in our population are diverse and we made sure that was represented in the opportunities available.”

The event kicks off at 11:30 a.m. for veterans with 12:30 admission for the general public. As a courtesy to jobseekers the job fair will have food trucks on site as well as access to an Internet café, sponsored by Datapath. “We know job hunting is a full-time job,” said Eugene Garcia, event chair and Business Development Supervisor. “We wanted to add touches of convenience and service to our job fair to make the experience positive for jobseekers.”

Though jobseekers will likely be impressed by the extra touches, the successful history of the event is likely to be the most compelling factor. In 2015 the event was responsible for the hire of 300 employees, all in permanent positions. This year, once again, the event requires that all employers be hiring for open positions rather than just general recruiting, a restriction Garcia believes is the reason for so much past success. “Our goal is to increase chances that jobseekers will link up with full-time, permanent employment and likewise to help employers find the type of talented, motivated professionals we know are in our workforce.”

The Modesto Centre Plaza is located at 1000 L Street in Modesto. Jobseekers should dress professionally, bring copies of their resumes and are encouraged to pre-register on Event Brite at where a full list of employers is available.
